Puerto Rico heavy jet charter fits the long legs and full cabins. Ten to sixteen seats, stand-up cabins, private lavatories, and a range that clears the mainland US from SJU without refueling. Typical mission out of Puerto Rico: New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, Vancouver, Latin America, or the transatlantic run to London or Lisbon on the right platform. Range varies by aircraft and payload, generally 3,500 to 4,500 nautical miles.

When Heavy Fits the Puerto Rico Trip
Heavy jets earn their price on trips that need range, cabin, or both. Out of Puerto Rico that means recurring Act 60 residency travel to the West Coast, a family group flying non-stop to LA or Seattle for a school break, a pharma corporate delegation moving eight to twelve executives from mainland HQ to the manufacturing facility, or a transatlantic run for a family office trip to Europe. SJU’s 10,400 ft runway takes every heavy in service. BQN in Aguadilla is a legitimate secondary for west-coast passengers with an even longer runway. SIG is not a heavy-jet field; if the trip needs to end near Condado, the aircraft still lands at SJU and ground transfers into town.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs).
- Third-party safety audits current with Wyvern (Wingman or PASS) or ARGUS (Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Elite).
- Aircraft-specific insurance, pilot experience, and maintenance records reviewed against the specific trip.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Puerto Rico-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak risk mid-August through early October. Heavy-jet trips in that window get built with contingency departure days and honest weather calls; we would rather move a Wednesday departure to Tuesday than fight a shifting forecast. Winter months (December through April) run the busiest for HNW inbound to Dorado Beach, Bahia Beach, and Palmas del Mar. Book heavy-jet lift for Christmas week and Presidents’ Day weekend three to six weeks ahead if possible. FBO handling coordinated by your operator on arrival; your advisor can put you in touch with a ground transport partner for the Condado, Isla Verde, or Rio Grande transfer.
