Puerto Rico Piper Navajo / Cheyenne / Chieftain Charter

The Piper Navajo family serves Puerto Rico’s cabin-class piston and light-turboprop trips from San Juan (SJU) and Isla Grande (SIG), seating 8 to 9 with up to 883 nautical miles of range. It carries a full small group on island and near-Caribbean legs the singles cannot fill. A workhorse cabin-class twin.

Piper built the Navajo, and its Cheyenne and Chieftain variants, from the 1970s as cabin-class twins for commuter and charter work, cruising near 211 knots up to about 24,000 feet. The stretched Chieftain adds seats and payload.

Why the Piper Navajo / Cheyenne / Chieftain Fits Puerto Rico

From Puerto Rico the Navajo fits the group that fills more seats than a light single: San Juan or Isla Grande to Vieques, the Virgin Islands, or the Dominican Republic with 8 aboard. Cabin size and twin engines are the strengths.

For commuter-style group runs out of SJU on a piston budget, the Navajo family is the practical choice.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
